SPATIAL ANALYSIS IN ENVIRONMENTAL EPIDEMIOLOGY - 4 day short course

to be held on the ANU Campus in Canberra from Monday 5th to Thursday 8th September 2005.  

Clarification re course content on GIS   - you will be shown examples and demos of GIS software, and how it is applied to research scenarios, however no practical hands on sessions in GIS will be included.

 

THINGS YOU NEED TO BRING

Cold weather clothing - The short course is being held at the dawn of spring in Canberra, when you can expect blue skies and sunshine mose days. Though iIt can get quite chilly in the evening and mornings during September in Canberra, with an average minimum of 3 degrees and average maximum of 16 degrees.

ACCOMMODATION OPTIONS

We have made a block booking at University House on the ANU Campus, in order to set aside some rooms for short course participants. If you would like to take one of these rooms, just contact the University House Reservations office and let them know that you are attending the "Spatial Analysis Short Course" which is part of the Collaboration for Atmospheric Environment and Health. The room type is a north wing suite and the cost is $118 incl breakfast for 1 person, per night. If all the rooms have been used up, they will let you know what other room types and rates are available.

Alternatively, there are several other hotels in close proximity to the ANU Campus that you might like to try. There is a link from the shortcourse page to an information sheet with further details on accommodation.

 

TRANSPORT FROM THE AIRPORT

You can take a taxi from the airport to ANU / City Centre which takes about 20 minutes and costs about $15-$20 dollars.
