NCEPH staff, along with the ANU Medical School and ANU Wellness programs, have won the Joint College Award for Research Translation, for their work on “The Policy, Evaluation and Prevention Project: Initiative for evidence-based health promotion at the ANU".

This initiative arose out of discussions between staff at NCEPH and the Medical School about the apparent variation in the quality of the evidence base for interventions being offered by the ANU Wellness program. From these discussions, staff developed The Policy, Evaluation and Prevention Project (the population health curriculum in year 4 of the MBBS) convened by Dr Indira Samarawickrema within the Population Health Theme (chair Associate Professor David Harley).  It aims to translate best practice evidence-based techniques in occupational health and safety to improve the health and wellbeing of all ANU staff.

The 10th Urban Age conference in Hong Kong saw some 200 academics, policy-makers, practitioners and activists grappled with the complex and compelling issues that come together in urban health and well-being, joined by nearly 1000 people watching a live stream online. One of the keynote speakers included Professor Sharon Friel, who helped draw things together, demonstrating the many ways in which urban health inequity is linked to social inequalities.

HealthGAEN's Asia Pacific hub, AP-HealthGAEN has released its report on the social and environmental determinants of health inequity in the Asia Pacific region. This report has been a collaborative initiative, with contributions from over 40 researchers, policy-makers and health equity advocates from across the Asia Pacific region.
