NCEPH's varied seminar program is described below.
A list of planned seminars for the remainder of the year can be found in the Seminar Calendar.
NCEPH Lunchtime Seminars
Regular lunchtime seminars are held in the Bob Douglas Lecture Theatre
at NCEPH (usually 12.30 1.30 pm on Thursdays). These are generally
work-in-progress seminars covering a wide range of topics in epidemiology
and population health.
All staff and students are encouraged to present seminars
and it is customary for research students to present a topic seminar
early in their research planning and to present a seminar on work in
progress as part of their mid-term review. These seminars are generally
scheduled in the weekly Thursday time slot. In some cases attendance
is restricted.
Special Seminars
NCEPH also
presents a Distinguished Speaker seminar series, many of these in conjunction with the Universitys
Institute of Health. These seminars are
presented by prominent national and international researchers and are
held on an occasional basis.
Methodology Seminars
As well as the regular Thursday lunchtime seminars, NCEPH also presents a regular series of methodology seminars, normally held on Tuesday lunchtimes in the Bob Douglas Lecture Theatre
at NCEPH (usually 12.30 1.30 pm).
Other Seminars
In addition, there is a separate series of teaching seminars
reviewing current issues in public health and a program of study skills
seminars run each year by and for the research students. From time to
time NCEPH also offers short programs on topics relevant to the Centres
research.
The University also presents the Toyota Public Lecture Series as part of its collection of ANU Public Lectures. NCEPH
staff and students are encouraged to attend.
