Short Courses at NCEPH

CULTURAL EPIDEMIOLOGY
28-29 October 2009, University House, Canberra

This course introduces students to the emerging discipline of cultural epidemiology, defining what it is and how it might be undertaken. It focuses on employing cultural theories, concepts and related methods to the health of populations and sub-populations.

FUNDAMENTALS OF EPIDEMIOLOGY
3-6 August 2009, University House, Canberra

The Fundamentals of Epidemiology short course will provide an introduction to epidemiology and biostatistics, using a small group, problem-based learning approach. It will be pitched to those without any previous formal epidemiology training, such as new PhD students, policy makers, clinicians and others seeking to revise their epidemiology skills. The aim will be to provide a firm basic understanding to allow correct interpretation of the research literature or from which to build, with more advanced courses.
