Honours

The National Centre for Epidemiology and Population Health offers honours scholarships for students intending to enrol full-time in a Faculty or School studying in a discipline relevant to the research undertaken at NCEPH.

Successful applicants will be superised or co-supervised by a member of the academic staff at NCEPH, and by a supervisor in a Faculty or School. NCEPH's research is centred around five main program areas: communicable diseases; environmental health; the social determinants of health; population, health and development; and health systems research. Applicants may wish to consult these research areas and our list of hot topics for possible research projects.

NCEPH Honours Scholarships

NCEPH awards a number of Honours scholarships each year. The scholarship program is conducted jointly by arrangement between NCEPH and the Colleges of Arts, Economics and Commerce, and Science.

Each scholarship is worth up to $A5, 000. There is an additional allowance of $A4, 500 for those successful applicants who have transferred their enrolment to this University for the Honours Year. For further iinformation, contact the Student Officer, or download and complete the application form.

Leonard Broom Scholarships

These scholarships were established by the University from funds endowed by Emeritus Professor Leonard Broom to support programs at the National Centre for Epidemiology and Population Health to serve Indigenous Australians. One or more may be awarded each year.

The Scholarships are intended to enable Indigenous Australian students to undertake a program of study in an area related to NCEPH's research. Each scholarship will be up to the value of $5,000 as appropriate. There will be an additional allowance of up to $1,000 for reimbursement of travel and fieldwork expenses, if required.

Applicants must be Indigenous Australian citizens and meet the following criteria:

(a) They must either be students currently enrolled or previously enrolled at this University or another Australian university and are intending to undertake fourth year honours in an approved field leading to the degree of bachelor at this University; or
(b) They must be students currently enrolled or previously enrolled at this University or another Australian university and are intending to undertake a program in an approved field leading to the award of postgraduate diploma; or
(c) are students intending to undertake a Summer Research Project at NCEPH.
