OPPORTUNITIES FOR INDIGENOUS STUDENTS AT NCEPH

We have collected the stories of a couple of our Indigenous students who chose to study with us at the National Centre for Epidemiology and Population Health. Share their experiences and impression of NCEPH in these case studies.

At NCEPH we offer numerous opportunities to Indigenous Australians to study and work in the field of epidemiology and population health.

Diverse communities in Australia need trained Indigenous population health professionals, so if you are highly motivated, and are studying or have graduated in the field of health or related social sciences, consider the following opportunities at NCEPH.

Discover there are various study options available at NCEPH below.

As a research student you can do research training through :

  • a Doctorate of Philosophy (PhD)
  • or a Masters of Philosphy (MPhil)

For short-term research you can take advantage of:

  • Fourth Year Honours. Scholarships are available for students planning to studying Honours at an ANU faculty or school in a discipline relevant to the research undertaken at NCEPH. Indigenous applicants are strongly encouraged to apply.
  • Summer Research Scholarships for undergraduate students from all over the country who are completing the third or fourth year of a full-time course

As a course-work student you can do the Master of Applied Epidemiology (MAE) .

As an Indigenous applicant for any of the above study options, we have various special scholarships for which Indigenous applicants are eligible, and highly encouraged to apply.

Our Master of Applied Epidemiology (MAE) Program has two designated places each year for Indigenous applicants. The MAE scholarship is a generous stipend to undertake this field-based program over 22 months. The program involves work placement in organisations active in the application of epidemiology in public health, and a twice yearly intensive coursework component.
