Applications are invited from suitably qualified researchers for appointment at levels B, C or D at the National Centre for Epidemiology and Population Health (NCEPH). The Centre is extending its research program in the field of the health impacts of climate change.

The Centre's climate change research program is led by Professor Tony McMichael http://nceph.anu.edu.au/Staff_Students/staff_pages/mcmichael.php . It includes studies of basic climate-health relations, estimating disease burdens due to climate change; assessing preventive strategies; and modelling the future health impacts of climate change. Particular foci include impacts on rural Australia, infectious disease dynamics, and Asia-Pacific regional issues. The ANU is currently establishing an interdisciplinary Climate Change Institute with which this research program will engage.

Applicants should have a PhD or equivalent, in epidemiology, biostatistics, environmental science, demography or other relevant population health discipline, and a track record of related productive research. Experience in studying the health consequences of climate change, modeling environment-health relationships, assessing community vulnerability to climatic/environmental health hazards, or evaluating adaptive strategies is desirable.  Appointees at levels C/D will be expected to contribute to doctoral research supervision.
