Breaking the ice

Breaking the Ice is an internet based intervention for psychostimulant users.

It borrows techniques from motivational interviewing and cognitive behavioural therapy to help users assess their drug use and its impact on their lives. It also provides guidance for users on how to change their drug use to better meet their lifestyle goals.

The intervention has been developed at ANU through the Centre for Mental Health Research and CRAHW, in collaboration with researchers at the National Drug & Alcohol Research Centre, UNSW. The intervention is being evaluated using a randomized controlled trial with a wait list control.

Funding for this project is provided by the Australian Government Department of Health & Ageing.
