Implementation, sustainability and generalisation of exemplary models of PHC service delivery in rural and remote Australia: a case study analysis

Commentators have raised the problems of a lack of empirical data that relate to (i) the causes of implementation failure with respect to rural health policy, (ii) sustainability of rural PHC services and (iii) generalisation of successful programs.

The aim of this study was to collect and analyse primary data in order to 'read between the lines' of the published material previously reviewed, and thus to explore and describe the factors and processes which facilitate and inhibit the implementation, sustainability and generalisation of exemplary models of PHC service delivery in rural and remote Australia.
