Achieving health equity
The burden of disease falls unevenly in populations, our research seeks to decrease these health inequalities.
These disparities are visible in Australia and throughout the world, including Indigenous populations, and many people living in low and middle income countries.
These groups are disproportionately affected by infectious and chronic diseases, lack of services, conflict and natural disasters.
Our research covers studies measuring occurrence of behavioural risk factor and disease, the social and cultural causes of health inequalities, testing interventions to reduce behavioural risk factors and improve disease control, and evaluations of health services and emergency responses.
