Australia has enjoyed a decade of low tuberculosis (TB) case notification rates. These data are described in annual TB reports (published in Communicable Diseases Intelligence) however they do not employ a time series analysis approach. In this project the student will analyse TB case notification data over time using time series analysis. Alongside this the student will review historical TB control policies to determine the effect of such policies on TB case notification rates. Finally, the student will present the results in the context of Australia's national TB strategic plan (soon to be published) which is aiming for TB elimination. This study is likely to be of national interest given that the national TB strategic plan has ambitious targets to eliminate TB.
