Data Analysis in Population Health (DAPH) Hub Seminar: Mixing it up - The what, why and how of mixed methods research

The Society, Culture and Health Group applies and builds social science theory and methods to understanding the social and cultural determinants of health, and how they interact with the lived experience of health.

Abstract

As social scientists working in population health we regularly use mixed qualitative and quantitative methods in our research.   In this presentation we discuss the fundamental principles of mixed methods approaches, offer some examples from our work and reflect on the pitfalls and advantages.  We strive to approach the topic from a non-aligned position that will be useful for quantitative and qualitative researchers.

Data Analysis in Population Health (DAPH) Hub brings together expertise from across the School and aims to build the capacity of researchers and students.
