With millions of papers being published every year, efficient, timely, and comprehensive sourcing and synthesis of scholarly evidence is an increasing challenge. This talk discusses how bibliometric approaches, and in particular citation network analysis, can be helpful for literature review and synthesis. We will run through the general principles and process of undertaking citation network analysis, with examples specific to population health.
Bio
Erin Walsh has a multidisciplinary research career spanning the fields of psychology, visual science communication, biology (focus on brain morphometrics), and human health (focus on brain ageing). She is based in the PHXchange, a multidisciplinary team in NCEPH that connects population health to social, environmental, political and economic drivers to provide better understanding of, and inform implementation of effective action on emerging health problems.
Her work focuses on understanding how visuals can be used to enhance the communication of population health concepts, and exploring the utility of novel methods from other disciplines when applied to population health research.
