There is growing evidence that physical activity may play an important role as a protective lifestyle factor in the quest to delay the onset of cognitive impairment and dementia in older adults.

The benefits of physical activity are not limited to healthy people! They include older adults with memory complaints, mild cognitive impairment or dementia.

This lecture will present the current evidence and provide practical recommendations for setting up physical activity programs for middle-aged and older adults to target cognitive health. While the evidence is still limited, the multiple benefits of physical activity should be sufficient to include regular physical activity in preventative strategies and health recommendations to protect brain health in older age.
