Description

Abstract

Please join us on Thursday 27 November at 12.30pm with Zixiao Wang and Marina McGale for two insightful presentations about archiving data at ANU.

Presentation 1:
Data Archiving: ANU Data Commons

Presenter: Zixiao Wang

Bio: Zixiao is a Repository Open Access Coordinator, responsible for making publications open access, helping higher degree research students with their theses with respect to restriction, and assisting researchers in depositing their data into ANU Data Commons.

Abstract: This presentation will introduce you to one of ANU’s archiving services – ANU Data Commons, how you can deposit your data when your project is completed.

Presentation 2:
Data Archiving & Access: The Australian Data Archive & CADRE Platform

Presenter: Marina McGale

Bio: Marina is the Technical Manager at the Australian Data Archive (ADA), bringing over 20 years of experience in software and web application development.

Marina currently leads ADA's technical infrastructure and services, overseeing platforms including Dataverse and CADRE. She coordinates security and service reliability, leads the technical development team, and provides strategic technical support for the Archive.

Prior to ADA, Marina worked with private, government, and higher education organisations in Canada and Ireland.

Abstract: This presentation provides an overview of the Australian Data Archive (ADA) archival processes and a new, purpose-built access management platform as complementary systems for research data preservation and access. ADA, established in 1981 at The Australian National University, manages over 1,700 social science datasets using best practice standards and principles. With over 4,000 annual access requests, CADRE (Coordinated Access for Data, Researchers, and Environments) was developed to streamline data access management using the Five Safes framework. Together, these systems create an integrated ecosystem that maximises research data value while protecting privacy and confidentiality.
