National Centre for Epidemiology and Population Health scholarships

A range of scholarships are available to current research higher degree students, early career researchers, and professional staff members within NCEPH. These scholarships provide funding to support research-related activities, such as conference attendance, workshops, courses, and meetings with external collaborators.

Financial aid

ANU offers a wide range of other scholarships including Undergraduate, Honours, Masters and PhD scholarships, and prizes to current and future students to assist with the cost of their studies.

Caldwell Visiting Fellowship for 2026

This is an exciting opportunity for an early career African researcher in population health or demography to develop a collegial partnership with researchers at the National Centre for Epidemiology and Population Health (NCEPH) and/or the School of Demography at the Australian National University (ANU).

Leonard Broom HDR Scholarship

The Leonard Broom HDR Scholarship is a top-up stipend for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander MPhil or PhD students at NCEPH. Applications open annually in November. Out-of-round applications will be considered, if not filled.

Duguid Travelling Scholarship

The Duguid Travelling Scholarship provides funding to assist an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander HDR student or a non-Indigenous HDR student working in Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander health to undertake activity in pursuit of their research goals. Applications open annually in April and October.

Baume Travel Grant

The Baume Travel Grant provides funding for MPhil and PhD students at NCEPH (part-time or full-time) to undertake activity in pursuit of their research goals. Applications open annually in April.

ECR Travel Grant

The ECR Travel Grant provides funding for NCEPH Level A and B academics (part-time or full-time) to undertake activity in pursuit of their research goals. Applications open annually in April and October and will be called for by the NCEPH Scholarships Committee.

Geoff Mercer Award

The Geoff Mercer Award provides funding for NCEPH MPhil and PhD students to undertake activity in pursuit of their research goals. Research projects applying mathematics to infectious disease problems are encouraged. Applications open annually in October.

The Jason Passioura Bursary

The Jason Passioura Bursary will continue Jason Passioura’s legacy, by each year funding one student (Honours or research higher degree) or researcher (academic Level A or B or professional staff) to undertake activity in pursuit of their research goals. Applications open annually in April.
