Sketching in Situ: Theory, practice and sketching for population health

Event Description

This talk discusses in-situ-sketching in population health broadly, for NCEPH specifically, and reflects on learnings from the 2023 Urban Sketching Symposium.

Abstract

Visuals have a long history in population health research and communication. One form that you may not know about is in-situ-sketching, where people in the field or in the moment capture settings, layouts, objects or thoughts in sketches as well as words. As well as serving the process of research, in-situ sketching can be used for branding, stakeholder engagement, and outreach. In this talk we will discuss the power of visuals, and give a brief history of in-situ-sketching in population health. We will then turn to how our current and future in-situ sketching can serve NCEPH, and reflect on what we learned at the 2023 Urban Sketching Symposium.
