Helen Killaspy is Professor and Honorary Consultant in Rehabilitation Psychiatry at University College London and Camden and Islington NHS Foundation Trust in the UK.

She leads national and international programmes of research that focus on the assessment of quality of care for people with complex mental health problems and the evaluation of complex interventions for this group. She was awarded her PhD for a prospective controlled study investigating outcomes for people who do not engage with outpatient care, which led to her being appointed as the main researcher on the REACT study (a randomised controlled trial of assertive community treatment in North London). This was the first of a number of 'negative' trials of interventions for people with complex mental health problems that have developed her interest in implementation science.

She is the National Professional Adviser for mental health rehabilitation services for the hospital registration authority in England and Wales, the Care Quality Commission.
