Gabriele Bammer is an active member of the 3-person steering group helping the Austrian Science Fund develop a new funding programme for transdisciplinary research.

Gabriele Bammer is an active member of the NITRO-Oceania (Network of Interdisciplinary and Transdisciplinary Research Organisations – Oceania), among other things running the website. NITRO-Oceania was successful in its application to run a workshop at SRI 2020 (Sustainability Research and Innovation Congress 2020), a major international event that will be held in Brisbane from June 14-17, 2020.

She is also a member of the HIBAR (Highly Integrative Basic And Responsive) Research Alliance Collaborative Action Group on Cross-organizational cooperation.

In December and January, the i2Insights blog (http://i2Insights.org), curated by Gabriele Bammer and Peter Deane published two blog posts by members of PHXchange:

Other blog posts covered serendipity in interdisciplinary research, detecting non-linear change and using yin-yang thinking to deal with unknown unknowns. The i2Insights blog has entered its 5th year. Highlights from 2019 and the most popular blog posts are reported at https://i2insights.org/2019/12/17/fourth-annual-review/. At the end of 2019 the blog had published 272 posts by 306 authors from 35 countries and was read in 180 of the 193 countries that are members of the United Nations.

Gabriele Bammer and Peter Deane produced the November/December i2S News (https://i2s.anu.edu.au/what-i2s/i2s-publications/i2s-news), which features updates on the Learning for sustainability (LfS) website, Team science toolkit and the Knowledge system transformation to support research integration and implementation video.

Progress on research projects

Gabriele Bammer has started re-indexing blog posts with new ‘categories’ and revised ‘tags’. The aim is to make it easier and more efficient to search for blog posts on particular subjects relevant to research integration and implementation. This project will probably take most of 2020 to complete.
