Good news

Congratulations to Gizem Bilgen, who won best Honours presentation at the ANU student research conference on Saturday 21st September, and will go on to present at the national student research conference in early October.

Keynote and invited speakers

Meru Sheel was invited to speak at a Westpac Scholars Alumni event on the 23rd of September.

Brett Lidbury was invited to speak at the South Pacific Congress of the Australian Institute of Medical Scientists in the Gold Coast on “Pattern Recognition in Pathology Data to Solve Biomedical Problems and Improve Diagnosis – HBV and ME Examples”.

Other conference presentations

Amy Parry presented at the RSPH student conference in September on “Building an evidence base for epidemiology emergency response: key informant interview findings”. Amy also has a poster accepted for the upcoming Mixed Methods International Research Association Conference in New Zealand in December on “Study protocol: Building an evidence base for epidemiology emergency response, a mixed methods study”.

Rhiannon Wallace presented two talks at the Campylobacter, Helicobacter and Related Organisms Meeting in Belfast, titled “Whole genome sequencing of Campylobacter jejuni and Campylobacter coli from retail meat in Australia” and “Genomic epidemiology of Campylobacter spp. from food, animals and humans in Australia”.

Awards

Meru Sheel was awarded the winner for Science and Medicine in the ‘40 Under 40: Most Influential Asian-Australian Awards’.
