Protection in the field

MAE scholars
3 March 2020

While the world is scaling up response to COVID-19, a new cohort of Master of Applied Epidemiology (MAE) scholars commenced their training as filed epidemiologists at ANU on 17 February.

In preparation for the scholars commencing in their field placements, the MAE program partnered with Canberra Hospital to provide training in donning and doffing personal protective equipment (PPE).

The scholars received instruction from the Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) team on the safe application and removal of P2 masks, gowns, cap and gloves with emphasis placed on hand hygiene.

The World Health Organisation recommendations for the rational use of PPE for COVID-19 can be found here.
