Biography
Dr Bianca Calabria is a Research Fellow at the Centre for Mental Health Research at the ANU and a conjoint lecturer at the National Drug and Alcohol Research Centre at UNSW Australia. She also collaborates with the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Program at the National Centre for Epidemiology and Population Health. Dr Calabria was recognised during her PhD candidature as having potential be become a career scientist by being named on the UNSW Medicine Dean’s List in 2012. In 2014 she was awarded the National Drug and Alcohol Research Centre’s Jennifer McLaren Award for Outstanding Research Achievement and in 2018 she was a member of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Program at the National Centre for Epidemiology and Population Health (NCEPH) when it received a commendation for the ANU Clare Burton Award for Excellence in Equity. Dr Calabria has served as a member on internal and external panels/committees including grant review panels and ACT Health Human Research Ethics Committee. Dr Calabria has experience integrating epidemiological and community-based intervention evaluation research to improve health and wellbeing outcomes among Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and other underserved populations. Her research is conducted in partnership with community members and services. Bianca's research has been concentrated in the areas of drug and alcohol, wellbeing, psychosis, family and community safety and cardiovascular disease. In addition to research, Dr Calabria is currently completing a Master of Clinical Psychology at ANU with anticipated completion mid-2019 when she will work clinically as a psychologist while also continuing her program of research.
