About
Cynthia is a Master of Applied Epidemiology (MAE) scholar in the 2026–27 cohort, currently undertaking a placement in Perth, Western Australia, where she contributes to disease surveillance, epidemiological reporting, and public health response activities.
Prior to the MAE, Cynthia worked within the ACT Health Directorate, supporting infectious disease surveillance, reporting and COVID-19 emergency response at ACT. Her work has spanned respiratory disease surveillance (including COVID-19, influenza and RSV), tuberculosis, mpox, and other notifiable conditions. She has contributed to multiple public health responses through surveillance, contact tracing, outbreak investigations, and the development of databases and dashboards that supported real-time decision-making during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Cynthia holds a PhD in Applied Science from University of Canberra, along with postgraduate training in health protection, and has a strong background in microbiology and infectious disease research.
Cynthia has experience in infectious disease surveillance and data management, with a strong interest in improving data quality, strengthening surveillance systems, and supporting timely, evidence‑based public health decision‑making.
