About

I was born and raised in the beautiful island Kingdom of Tonga.  I am the eldest of 4 siblings.  I graduated from Tonga High School and entered a 3-years training program at the Queen Salote School of Nursing where I completed a Certificate in Nursing in 2002. After graduation, I worked as a Registered Nurse (RN) at Vaiola Hospital, the only hospital in the main Island of Tongatapu.  In 2009, I had the opportunity to further my career and completed a Certificate in Public Health from the Fiji School of Medicine before I commenced with Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor in Surgery (MBBS) in 2010.  I returned back and worked as an intern at Vaiola Hospital in 2016.  In August 2018, I joined the Communicable Disease (CD) section as a junior medical officer.  Prior to the COVID 19 pandemic, I went to the University of Sydney where I completed a Master of Medicine in Sexual Reproductive Health in 2019 followed by Master of Medicine (ADVANCE) in Sexual Reproductive Health by Research in 2020 at my home country.  COVID 19 response was the highlight of my career at the Communicable Disease Section where I learned on the field various roles from border control medical officer to Managed Isolation Quarantine (MIQ) medical officer in charge, vaccination and then to the Emergency Operation Center or Command Center.  I am now a Senior Medical Officer (SMO) at the CD section responding to Tonga’s current dengue outbreak.
