About
I am the youngest of 7 siblings and attended Suva Grammar School in Suva before completing a Bachelor of Science Degree at the University of the South Pacific. I then proceeded to the Fiji School of Medicine and completed my Bachelor in Medicine and Bachelor in Surgery (MBBS).
In 2011 I started work in the Fiji Ministry of Health and Medical Services health system as a medical intern at the Colonial War Memorial Hospital. In 2012 I was stationed at my home island as the medical officer of the Rotuma Rural Hospital and then in 2014 I was transferred and stationed at the Korovou Subdivisional Hospital. In 2016, I commenced work at the Fiji Centre for Disease Control (Fiji CDC) where I am now the Principal Medical Officer.
The highlights of my career at Fiji CDC include being involved in the country’s battle against the Meningococcal C outbreak in 2018, the Measles outbreak in 2019, and the COVID-19 pandemic of 2020-2021. My passion has been in working in the field investigating outbreaks as well as conducting training for health workers on improving their skills and knowledge in the field of epidemiology. I was fortunate to receive a scholarship at the end of 2022 to study and be part of the 2023 Masters in Applied Epidemiology (MAE) cohort at the Australian National University (ANU).
