About
Dr Kumudu Weerakoon is a public health physician and Honorary Lecturer in the Department of Applied Epidemiology at the National Centre for Epidemiology and Population Health, Australian National University. She is a qualified medical doctor in Sri Lanka and holds a master’s degree and a Doctor of Medicine (MD) in Community Medicine from the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka.
Kumudu brings vast experience in public health practice, with expertise in communicable disease prevention, applied epidemiology, and community-based interventions. She is currently undertaking public health training under the supervision of Professor Martyn Kirk. Kumudu is actively involved in projects focusing on communicable disease surveillance, outbreak investigation and response, and the translation of epidemiological evidence into public health policy and practice.
