Elaine is a Master of Philosophy in Applied Epidemiology (MAE) scholar in the 2023-24 cohort. She is undertaking her field placement in the Communicable Disease, Epidemiology and Surveillance Section at the Australian Government Department of Health and Aged Care.

Elaine's areas of interest include communicable disease epidemiology, emergency preparedness and response, and sexual reproductive health and rights.

Prior to commencing the MAE Elaine worked in a range of public health roles, including in international public health NGOs and in the Indo-Pacific Centre for Health Security at the Australian Government Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade. Outside of work she loves spending time with her family, cooking up feasts for family and friends, exploring new countries (pre-pandemic), group fitness, and visiting local markets.

Elaine has a background in law and psychology having graduated from the ANU College of Law and ANU Research School of Psychology, and holds a Masters of Science in Medicine (HIV, STIs and Sexual Health) from the University of Sydney.
