About

Gemma is a Master of Applied Epidemiology (MAE) scholar in the 2024-2025 cohort with a placement within the Communicable Diseases Branch, at the Queensland Department of Health.

Prior to the MAE Gemma worked as a public health nurse in the Communicable Diseases Branch in Queensland. Gemma has a background in nursing with 18 years’ experience in a variety of acute and primary care settings, and most recently working in TB Control in Queensland for the last 10 years.

Gemma’s areas of interest include vaccine preventable diseases, mycobacterial infections, mosquito- borne diseases and health promotion.

Gemma holds a Master of Public Health in Health Promotion and Disease Prevention from the University of Queensland and a Bachelor of Nursing Science from James Cook University.
