About

Kristen is a PhD candidate at the Research School of Population Health.  She is a registered nurse and midwife with postgraduate qualifications and experience in public health, professional education and training, community health and child health nursing.  Kristen has worked in numerous nursing, midwifery, education and research roles in Australia, England, Thailand, Sierra Leone and Timor Leste, with a particular focus on maternal, newborn and child primary health care, quality improvement and workforce capacity building.

Kristen’s PhD research focuses on strengthening the birth preparedness and complication readiness capacity of primary care midwives working in rural and remote resource limited settings, with the aim of providing evidence for policy and practice.
