About
Md Abu Sayeed is a PhD Candidate at the National Centre for Epidemiology and Population Health (NCEPH), Australian National University, with a background as a Veterinary Epidemiologist. His work is grounded in the One Health framework, addressing the complex interactions between human, animal, and environmental health to combat zoonotic diseases.
Sayeed's PhD research focuses on understanding the ecological and genetic characteristics of pathogens driving foodborne zoonotic diseases in Southeast Asia. Using advanced statistical and geospatial modelling, he investigates critical transmission pathways at the human-animal-environment interface, aiming to inform targeted prevention strategies and enhance surveillance systems in resource-limited settings.
With over eight years of prior experience in teaching, research, and public health, Sayeed has worked on multidisciplinary projects involving avian influenza, Nipah encephalitis, and Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR). Author of 45 peer-reviewed articles so far, he is dedicated to advancing One Health approaches to address the global challenges posed by emerging zoonotic diseases.
