Zoë Becvarik is currently a PhD student at the National Centre for Epidemiology and Population Health. Her research investigates the climatic and behavioral risk factors associated with climate-sensitive zoonoses in Australia to inform public health guidance.

Prior to undertaking her PhD, Zoë gained a Master of Public Health (Advanced) and a Bachelor of Health Science at the Australian National University. Her MPH thesis focused on the effect of temperature on the distribution of zoonotic pathogens in livestock and wildlife populations.

Zoë also has work experience as a research officer at the Australian National University. She has previously assisted Dr Zoe Levison at the ANU School of Medicine and Psychology as part of the McMichael Award programme and her work on social psychological responses to climate change and wellbeing implications of collective climate action. Currently, Zoë assists Associate Professor Aparna Lal as part of a collaboration with the ACT Environment, Planning and Sustainable Development Directorate that is developing a methodology to identify, monitor and evaluate the health co-benefits of household level energy interventions.
