About
Ryan is a Master of Applied Epidemiology (MAE) scholar in the 2025-2026 cohort with a placement at the National Centre for Immunisation Research and Surveillance (NCIRS).
Before the MAE, Ryan worked in communicable disease readiness and health security at the Australian Government Department of Health and Aged Care. During his tenure, he played a role in establishing the interim Australian Centre for Disease Control, where he assisted with vaccine resource modelling and participated in public health surveillance for the National Medical Stockpile. Previously, Ryan served as a Research Officer at the Australian National University, contributing to systematic reviews on tobacco cessation.
Previously, he worked across ACT Health’s COVID-19 Outbreak Response and held clinical and administrative support roles at Calvary Public Hospital Bruce. He has also undertaken public health fieldwork in Indonesia as a New Colombo Plan scholar and contributed to food policy research for the ACT Education Directorate.
He holds a Master of Public Health and a Bachelor of Health Science from the Australian National University.
Ryan’s interests include immunisation strategy, measles and rubella control, vaccine-preventable diseases, and infectious disease preparedness across the Asia-Pacific region.
