Biography

Chenkun is a Master of Philosophy in Applied Epidemiology (MAE) student in the 2023-2024 Cohort.

She has her joint placement with the National AMR Outbreak Response Network at the Office of Health Protection and Response (Australian Government Department of Health and Aged Care) and the Microbiological Diagnostic Unit at the Doherty Institute (University of Melbourne).

Chenkun holds a Master of Public Health degree at University of Queensland. Before joining the MAE program, she worked as a data analyst for various government agencies including the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare (AIHW) and Victorian Agency for Health Information (VAHI), Victorian Department of Health. She worked on a range of projects, including the Australian Burden of Disease Study, Victorian Population Health Survey and provided routine Victorian health service data submissions to Commonwealth agencies. While on her job, Chenkun developed a strong interest for applied epidemiology.

Chenkun’s MAE projects are focused on surveillance and response to antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and multi-resistant organisms (MROs). Outside of her day job, Chenkun loves to cook, do regular hikes and vintage/second-hand shopping, and visit local markets.
