About

Yonatan Moges Mesfin is a Master of Applied Epidemiology (MAE) scholar in the 2025─26 cohort with a placement within the Asia-Pacific Research Group at Murdoch Children's Research Institute (MCRI).

Prior to the MAE, Yonatan worked as an epidemiologist in the Asia-Pacific Research Group at MCRI and completed a two-year postdoctoral fellowship at the WHO Collaborating Centre for Infectious Disease Epidemiology and Control, School of Public Health, University of Hong Kong.

Yonatan completed a PhD in Epidemiology at Monash University (Australia) and holds master’s degree in public health from Addis Ababa University, Ethiopia.

Yonatan’s areas of interest include infectious disease epidemiology, evaluation of public health interventions (e.g., vaccine effectiveness in real world settings), and public health surveillance.
