Dementia Collaborative Research Centre for Early Diagnosis & Prevention (DCRC-EDP) »
The Dementia Collaborative Research Centre for Early Diagnosis & Prevention (DCRC-EDP) is based at CRAHW and Professor Kaarin Anstey is the Director. It is one of three collaborative research centres that are funded by the National Health & Medical Research Council as part of the Government’s Dementia Initiative.
The Centre conducts research based at a number of Australian universities and institutions. In 2016 the DCRCs conducted a competitive round of funding and awarded funds to more than 30 sub-projects, which are in addition to their own research activities. See the list of projects funded until 30 June 2017 (pdf, 290KB).
DCRC is involved in conducting high quality research into dementia from different disciplinary perspectives, and from different stakeholder perspectives including the person with dementia, carers, the population who are at risk of dementia, and the health services that support those with dementia and their carers. Dementia researchers come from many backgrounds including nursing, medicine, psychology, basic science, technology, communications, and health sciences.
