Yardhura Walani
Yardhura Walani (meaning ‘a strong, healthy place’ in Ngunnawal language) conducts meaningful and transformative health research, shaped by the priorities of communities.
Yardhura Walani is the National Centre for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Wellbeing Research at the Australian National University.
Yardhura Walani focus on the most significant health and wellbeing factors that impact Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples’ lives, including, culture, racism, tobacco, cancer and chronic disease.
In partnership with Indigenous health peak bodies and communities across Australia, work at Yardhura Walani directly informs national level policy, and supports community programs and services to strengthen the health and wellbeing of mob.
Yardhura Walani is Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander led and governed, and the largest Indigenous health and wellbeing team in Australia. The Centre’s guiding principle is to be in service to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
