Workforce development and capacity building is a strong focus of the CRE. In 2014, the CRE was to continue providing training to Aboriginal researchers officers and supporting students pursuing higher degrees.

Partnerships

This work of this CRE is intrinsically linked to the SEARCH Study (Study of Environment on Aboriginal Resilience and Child Health) that is coordinated by a network of several agencies with local, state and national remits to improve the health of Aboriginal children. The existing core collaboration includes four Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services (ACCHSs at Western Sydney, Campbelltown, Newcastle and Wagga Wagga), the Aboriginal Health and Medical Research Council (AH&MRC), a senior team of researchers (University of Sydney, the Australian National University, University of Newcastle), NSW Health, Sydney Children’s Hospital Network (SCHN), beyondblue (the national depression initiative).
