Sierra Leone (2020 - ongoing)
In Sierra Leone, twice as many mothers aged 15-19 die in childbirth compared to those over 20.
We quickly realised a parallel sexual and reproductive health program for adolescent girls would significantly strengthen Safe Delivery.
We learned that adolescents’ access to confidential advice and care is often limited. This increases their vulnerability, risk of unwanted pregnancy and debilitating associated injuries.
We have co-designed a comprehensive package of reproductive health services with adolescents, community leaders, and MSF. This work makes adolescents’ insights and experiences core to an accessible, appropriate and relevant program in Sierra Leone.
We will transform adolescent sexual reproductive health in Sierra Leone and scale a successful model to benefit families in other developing countries.
