Job strain and wellbeing

Investigates the long-term impact of mid-life job strain. The project has currently identified the long-term risk of job strain and job quality on long-term wellbeing and mental health outcomes and is currently examining the long-term impact of job strain on cognitive function in mid-life. Currently, a new aspect of the project is being developed and will involve micro-burst longitudinal studies to investigate the interaction between work and non-work strain on long-term wellbeing and mental health. A key component of this will be the analysis of hair cortisol to demonstrate the link between cortisol with wellbeing and cognitive functioning in midlife.
