Measuring inequalities in mortality
Historically, Australia has been limited to reporting socioeconomic inequalities in mortality using area-level measures of socioeconomic position, a method which underestimates the extent of the differences. Data are now available to measure inequalities using individual measures, resulting in more accurate estimates.
