Quantifying cause-related mortality in Switzerland, incorporating multiple causes
This study aims to assess trends and patterns in cause-related mortality in Switzerland, integrating multiple causes of death. All deaths in Switzerland from 1995–2022 will be mapped to 136 ICD-10-based groups, and cause of death were ascribed using the UC only and a multiple cause weighting (WT) strategy.

About
This study aims to assess trends and patterns in cause-related mortality in Switzerland, integrating multiple causes of death. All deaths in Switzerland from 1995–2022 will be mapped to 136 ICD-10-based groups, and cause of death were ascribed using two different methods: the UC only and a multiple cause weighting (WT) strategy, which ascribed 50% weight to the UC and apportioned the remaining 50% equally across the contributing causes reported in the death certificate. Age-standardized cause-related rates (deaths/100,000) based on the UC will be compared with rates based on WT using rate ratios.
