CMHR would like to congratulate Dr Amelia Gulliver who has won a prestigious Young Tall Poppy Science Award. The Tall Poppy awards recognise the achievements of young scientific researchers with Dr Gulliver being recognised for her research which looks at reducing stigma and other barriers, preventing access to services for those experiencing mental health problems.

Amelia is a Research Fellow with the ACACIA team working on various projects relevant to, and working towards the benefit of mental health consumers and carers in the ACT. Other major previous projects she has worked on include a collaborative project with the Young and Well Collaborative Research Centre to build and evaluate an online virtual clinic for improving the mental health of university students, and an online intervention designed with the Australian Institute of Sport to improve help-seeking for mental health problems in young elite athletes. Amelia is also working on a randomised controlled trial of an intervention designed to increase uptake and engagement with e-mental health programs.

The Australian Institute of Policy & Science (AIPS) is an independent and not-for-profit organisation. Established in 1932, the Institute has undertaken diverse activities to achieve its aims over its long history. For decades, the AIPS was a premier forum for engaged Australians to debate, explore and become more informed on issues of contemporary significance.
