About

Dr Talia Avrahamzon is a social scientist in the health and medical research sector contributing to the national and global dialogue on equity, health research policy and strategy, and health and medical research workforce. She is the Head of Policy, Projects and Advocacy at Research Australia, the national peak organisation for health and medical research and innovation.  

Talia has over extensive strategic public policy, research, program development, implementation, and evaluation experience and has held senior leadership roles in both the public service and not for profit organisations. This has included in Closing the Gap and Australia’s Disability Strategy, establishing new policy, research and data agendas, and enabling significant investments and projects in sector-wide capacity building, training and workforce development.  Talia’s committed to participatory methodologies, data and research, and knowledge translation with marginalised communities.  She holds a PhD from the Australian National University, in 'Everyday Reconciliation - New Celebrations, Ongoing Silences' as a Sir Roland Wilson scholar.
