About

Mikayla is a non-indigenous researcher who is living, working, and creating on the lands of the Wurundjeri peoples of the Kulin Nation. She has completed a Master of Public Health (MPH) at the University of Melbourne. Her final year MPH project explored the impact of self-collection, a method of cervical screening, on equity for LGBTQIA+ community members with a cervix. She has spent a year working on developing Program Guidelines and shared decision-making materials for the National Lung Cancer Screening Program. She has experience in digital health and education evaluation, including consumer and clinician co-learning as a new avenue for health care consumer engagement, and simulation as an investigative method to measure impacts of digital health interventions/solutions.

Mikayla is a staunch feminist and ally, a qualitative and mixed methods early career researcher, and a resourceful and enthusiastic woman. She is passionate about meaningful equity and accountable health systems and enjoys being involved in collaborative approaches to addressing health and wellbeing.

Mikayla currently works as a research officer at Yardhura Walani as part of the Lung Screening, and Cervical Cancer Elimination teams.
