Biography

Cass Heffernan is a lived experience research officer at the Centre for Mental Health Research at the ANU. Having worked for 15 years as a Registered Nurse, she has moved into this role after working as a Senior Lived Experience Advisor with the Black Dog Institute since 2018 on various suicide prevention & mental health projects & the development of their Lived Experience Engagement Framework & Resource Network. Cass will be working with the CMHR on two projects- a longitudinal study on suicidal behaviours, potential risks & protective factors, and a co-design project to design a workplace intervention to reduce stigma & promote help-seeking.
