Yihun studied BSc at Gondar University Ethiopia, MSc in International Health at Heidelberg University Germany and Master of Public Health in Epidemiology and Biostatistics at Gondar University Ethiopia. Yihun was working forBahir Dar University, College of Medicine and Health Science at Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics in position of teaching and research.

He taught epidemiology, global health and research method course  for undergraduate and graduate student and conducted epidemiological studies of different types. 

His PhD study at ANU, Research School of Population Health will focus on Chronic Disease Epidemiology that will investigate the predictive performance of cardiovascular (CVD) risk prediction models, contextual effects and spatial patterns of CVD risk and CVD incidence in Ethiopia.
