About

There are a growing number of online self-help programs that aim to treat and prevent a range of mental and physical health problems. There is research evidence that many of these programs are effective. However, it is difficult for the public and for clinicians to know which programs are evidence-based and to connect with the research evidence. CMHR has catalogued hundreds of self-help programs that have some evidence base, to assist clinicians and consumers to connect with these programs. Beacon (beacon.anu.edu.au) is a web portal developed at the Australian National University (ANU) that assists consumers in finding high quality e-health services by providing site summaries and evidence-based ratings, categorised across a range of health conditions. Beacon also has capability for users to provide ratings.
