Partners in Recovery Evaluation Framework

ACACIA researchers were asked to create a framework for an evaluation of the ACT Partners in Recovery Program. The PIR Program aims to help people with long-term mental illness to develop their own recovery plan. It also assists them to access services and supports. The framework is designed to inform local feedback and quality improvement.

A flexible framework was developed with input from PIR key stakeholders and consumers. The core measures will be used as part of program delivery for all participants. These self-report scales measure quality of life, social inclusion, perception of recovery and experience of services. Provider self-report measures include recovery-oriented service provision and coordination. The optional levels of the framework add interviews and further scales if resources allow.

This project was funded by the ACT Medicare Local (now Capital Health Network).

Partners in Recovery Evaluation

Implementation of the evaluation commenced in 2015 and was completed in September 2016. The evaluation indicated that the program improved participants’ quality of life and recovery attitudes and was well-received by most. The Support Facilitators (care coordinators) were seen as central to the program’s success.
