Peter Baume Endowment
This endowment was established in 2001 by the Honourable Emeritus Professor, Peter Baume, AC. Peter became the ninth Chancellor of the ANU in 1994, bringing to the role qualities which have typified a career dedicated to community service – integrity, fair-mindedness and outstanding commitment.
The endowment recognises Peter’s keen interest in population health and the importance of providing students with the opportunity to further develop their skills and experience. Each year the endowment supports a travel grant for postgraduate NCEPH students to travel to a national or international conference in pursuit of their academic goals.

Peter Baume has made significant contributions to many professional, government and community bodies as well as speaking out on a number of social justice issues, including reconciliation and women’s rights.
First appointed to The Australian National University Council in 1986, Peter became the ninth Chancellor of the University in 1994, bringing to the role of Chancellor the qualities which have typified a career dedicated to community service – integrity, fair-mindedness and outstanding commitment. He received an honorary doctorate from ANU in 2004.
Peter was appointed an Officer of the Order of Australia in 1992 in recognition of service to the Australian Parliament and upgraded to Companion in the 2008 Queen's Birthday Honours List.
Established in 2001, the Peter Baume Endowment recognises his keen interest in population health and the importance of providing students with the opportunity to further develop their skills and experience. The grant supports one postgraduate NCEPH student each year.
