About

The Child, Youth and Family Mental Health and Suicide Prevention unit focuses on the prevention and early intervention of anxiety, depression and suicide in community and educational settings, as well as the promotion of help-seeking behaviour. This unit includes the development and evaluation of online and face-to-face interventions delivered in school, university and community populations, as well as epidemiological studies to better understand the risk and protective factors associated with anxiety, depression, suicide and help-seeking behaviour.

Mental disorders are a significant public health problem, which often begin in childhood and adolescence and can negatively impact social, emotional and academic outcomes. As such, it is important to prevent mental disorders in young people through the implementation of mental health education and early intervention

The aim of this project is to use a co-design/co-creation approach to assist in the development of an online youth navigation portal aimed at supporting the mental health needs of youth.

Qualitative and quantitative research focused on understanding and improving the mental health of university students.

CMHR is partnering with Menslink to evaluate their Silence is Deadly program in high schools across the ACT.
